Which massage treatment is right for me?

You don’t need to know exactly which treatment to book before you get in touch. Whether you’re dealing with muscular aches or stiffness, recovering from exercise, looking for support during pregnancy, have a scar you’d like help with, or simply want some time to relax, I can help you choose the most appropriate treatment.

My treatments are tailored to you, so the guide below is a starting point rather than something you need to diagnose for yourself.

Find the right treatment ↓

Start with what you’d like help with

Most people don’t arrive knowing the name of the treatment they need. It’s usually easier to start with what’s bothering you or what you’d like to get from your appointment.

I have muscular pain, tightness or stiffness

If you’re experiencing tight calves, stiff shoulders, an aching back, reduced mobility or muscular tension from work, exercise or everyday life, Sports Massage is usually the best place to start. Treatment can be adapted to the areas that are bothering you and doesn’t have to involve sport or an injury.

I exercise, train or play sport

If you’re running, cycling, going to the gym, playing sport or training for an event, Sports Massage can help with muscular tightness, recovery, mobility and the general build-up of tension that comes with regular activity. You don’t need to wait until something hurts.

I have a scar I’d like help with

If you have a fully healed scar following surgery, injury or another procedure, Scar Therapy uses gentle, non-aggressive techniques to help with issues such as tightness, pulling, numbness and restricted movement.

I mainly want to relax and unwind

If your priority is relaxation, Swedish Massage is a good place to start. If you particularly enjoy warmth, Hot Stone Massage is another deeply relaxing option.

I want a more targeted treatment with CBD products

CBD Massage combines hands-on massage with CBD-infused products and can be used where you’re looking for a more targeted treatment alongside relaxation and recovery.

You don’t have to be sporty to book a Sports Massage

Despite the name, Sports Massage isn’t only for athletes. Many of my clients book because sitting at a desk, physical work, driving, gardening or simply everyday life has left them feeling tight, stiff or uncomfortable.

If your main concern is muscular tension, restricted movement, aches or an area that keeps becoming tight, Sports Massage will often be the most appropriate starting point whether you play sport or not.

If relaxation is your priority

Not every massage needs to be about fixing a particular problem. If what you really need is some time to slow down, relax and ease general muscular tension, you have a few options.

Swedish Massage is the gentlest starting point, using light-to-medium pressure for a traditional relaxing massage. Hot Stone Massage adds the warmth of heated stones and can be particularly enjoyable if you like a deeply warming treatment. CBD Massage can also combine relaxation with more targeted hands-on work.

If you’re not sure which appeals most, don’t worry. I can help you decide.

Looking for something more specialist?

Some treatments are designed around a particular stage of life or a more specific need.

Scar Therapy is for fully healed scars where you may be experiencing tightness, sensitivity, numbness, pulling or restricted movement. Pregnancy Massage is adapted specifically for pregnancy, with comfortable positioning and support to help ease muscular tension and give you time to relax.

If either of these applies to you, you can read more about the treatment before booking or contact me if you’d like to check whether it’s appropriate.

Still not sure? That’s completely fine.

You don’t need to diagnose yourself or work out which massage technique you need before booking.

Tell me what’s been bothering you, where you’re feeling it, how long it’s been going on and what you’d like help with. I can advise whether one of my treatments is likely to be suitable and which appointment I’d recommend.

And if you’ve booked a general massage but we decide during your appointment that the treatment needs adapting, that’s fine too. Every session starts with a conversation about how you’re feeling and what you need that day.

What happens when I arrive?

Before treatment begins, we’ll talk about what has brought you in, how you’re feeling and what you’d like to get from the appointment. That gives me a chance to understand what you need and adapt the treatment accordingly.

So if you’ve chosen a treatment but aren’t completely certain it was the “right” one, don’t worry. Booking gets the conversation started. We can take it from there.
